Manual and mechanical steering gears are composed of a pinion, rack and axial tie rods.
The steering movement comes from the impulse from the steering wheel, which is transmitted to the pinion and allows the rack to slide, converting the movement from rotary to linear.
Although this system is very reliable (especially in the case of light cars), it is not suitable for heavier cars as it is very difficult to operate. For this reason, power steering mechanisms were created, systems that support rack steering without replacing it.
These are electrical and are therefore known as electrical power steering (EPS).
With the entry on the market of the EPS system, manual steering is slowly returning to the market in categories A and B of passenger cars.
R.I.P.A.S. is able to offer the complete regeneration service. Each overhauled spare part is tested on special test benches that simulate its activity in the vehicle, assessing its mechanical functioning.
