Anti-lock braking system
The anti-lock braking system consists of an electronic control unit and a hydraulic unit. This system prevents the vehicle's wheels from locking in the event of sudden braking, ensuring it can still be driven while braking.
In the event of a sudden stop on slippery surfaces, the sensors positioned on the wheels communicate with the control unit which, by calculating the rotation speed of each wheel, the speed of the car, the steering angle and other parameters linked to the stability of the vehicle, intervenes on the hydraulic unit by decreasing or not the oil pressure (coming from the brake pump) which acts on the individual brake callipers or on the individual drums, preventing them from blocking and thus guaranteeing maximum grip.
